November 25: Maura Hoffman

November 25: Maura Hoffman

Christopher D. Jones: “Maura Hoffman
23 years old
5′3″
115

Raver girl with long thick dreadlocks, purple and blonde. Has a cute young face with brown eyes and some freckles.

Wears a loose seashell necklace, and lots of neon candy beads on her wrists. Like a whole lot.

Bulky flashy tennis shoes. Cargo pants rolled up halfway up her shins but not quite to the knees, light or dark colored. Wears a tie or bandana on her beltloops that hangs down.

Wears a loose white babydoll sleeved shirt.

She carries herself like a hippie flower child but her eyes show a feisty survivor. She lives to dance and travel the world in a very tomboyish manner. Anarchist gypsy?

She suffers from an eye illness called HPPD. Her family was wealthy, she ran away as a troubled teen to link up with gypsies. Her back story includes rape, paranoia of being followed by a strange being, and lots of criminal activity. She had a younger sister that died of a drug overdose which makes her feel a sense of guilt and shame for her lifestyle. Her carefree nature overrides everything. She seeks adventure and understanding with the world. If she wasn’t a Gypsy she would have been a scientist. She has an understanding of politics and economics. She always picks up the newspaper and reads wikipedia. While quiet, she isn’t shy but agitated slightly with large groups of people. Not really comfortable in her own skin. Definitely an outsider.”

I’ve noticed one of the things that makes me pick one description over another is if I read it and immediately get a pose idea. Dance!

November 24: Larkspur

November 24: Larkspur

RabbitinRed: “Larkspur is my fellow.

Because he’s a changeling, there’s something subtly off-looking about him. He’s too skinny, his smile is wider than it should be, and his arms are uncomfortably long.

He looks about twenty. He’s the sort of fellow you’d expect to see hanging about expensive coffee shops, wearing a lot of black and sipping low-fat lattes. At 4′3″, he’s hardly the tallest person in any given room, and wears platform boots to compensate. His hair is extremely long and black — although partway through the story it gets hacked to pieces, so you’re welcome to draw it messy and short. His nose curves upwards.

He strings foxgloves through his hair. Foxglove is the name of his brother, so it’s a friendship-bracelet sort of deal.

His skin is very pale.

He wears very plain clothes — usually black, because he knows he looks good in dark colours. Sometimes he wears a locket on a thin metal chain, in which he keeps a photograph of a tragic-looking woman, about whom he makes up sad stories. Really, he got the thing from a Salvation Army. The photo was already in it.

His eyes are the pinkish colour of foxgloves.

In terms of personality, he’s a complete lunatic with an overdeveloped sense of vengeance. He holds grudges for millennia, but drops them when offered coca.”

It was pointed out that he looks kind of like a messed-up Sandman. Which is my fault, not the fault of the writer. Whoops.

November 23: Issac Blaine

November 23: Issac Blaine

Vivian Lynn: “Issac Blaine
Age: 10
Gender: Male
Hair Style/Color: More of a caramel brown, a bit long, and messy
Skin: Pale. He’s been sick for most of his life and doesn’t get out much
Eyes: Indigo but slightly lighter
Face: Cute, but thin due to sickness.
Attire: Blue tunic with black pants and a hooded brown cloak. Fingerless brown gloves with a blue round stone in the center of the back of them. Wears a slightly feminine chain with a ring on it. The ring has a purple gem that seems to glow a bit in darkness.
Other: He’s a bit short for his age, and tries to be happy most of the time. Occasionally though, something will remind him that he did something horrible. Magic user, and often reads spells from thick leather books in defense.”

BIG. EYED. CHILDREN.

November 22: Bea

November 22: Bea

Nym: “Bea, short for Beatrix, is the Captain of the Sans Merci, a pirating ship. She is the only female aboard the crew, and though many sailors would not work under a woman, she has earned the trust of her crew time and time again. Bea has long, long, curly blond hair, and blue eyes.

I should say eye, though. She wears a bright red bandanna over her forehead, and one flap covers her left eye. She wears a black-laced bodice and brightly-colored skirts. She could almost pass as a stereotypical “gypsy.” Her left leg is missing, and in it’s place is a wood-and-metal false leg. She walks with no limp despite it.

Bea has a cheerful disposition, but can instantly be serious if the need arises. Her crew adores her, and she trusts them with her life. At approximately 5 foot 9, she is tall but not too tall, buxom and not terribly thin, and has flashing emotions. She is confident, capable, strong, and rarely shows weakness.”

Trying something a bit different here. I ballsed up the feet, but otherwise, I think I like it!

If I’m doing my math right, I’ll finish this month with every day filled if I just do two dailies every day ’til the end of the month. Yeah, I can do that! (NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.)

November 21: Inspector Porei

November 21: Inspector Porei

Jeronimus: “About the character: Inspector Porei is a stubborn man. He claims to have resigned from the police force to become a private detective because their views didn’t correspond. The truth is, however, that he was fired, yet he never says this and constantly brags about his own worth.

Appearance: A rather small and stocky man. His hairline is receding and his dark hair is subtly turning grey. He has a very thin moustache and just an ever so slight stubble after not shaving for a day. He usually wears a nice, three-piece tweed suit, and a tie. He has a clever appearance (although, looks can be deceiving), tries to look important.

Additional crap: Porei is a smoker, he doesn’t like paperwork and his fan is broken.”

Ahaha, I love this guy, he was so much fun to draw. Last time I did this whole ink and tones style was back at the beginning of the month when I drew my own character. Apparently “private detective” equals “halftone pattern” in my head? Yeah, okay.
