November 1: Lizzie Brightman

Okay, okay, one more of my own characters, but only through necessity – I posted the thread later than I meant to, and didn’t have time to wait for replies before doing a drawing. Now there’re a few responses, other peoples’ characters will start showing up here tomorrow. Promise!

So here’s my protagonist for this year, Lizzie Brightman. For the first time, I’m writing a novel with a returning character – Lizzie first showed up in a short story I wrote a couple of years back for a school thing, and now here she is again, looking awesome as ever. Lizzie’s a PI who secretly, desperately wishes she was a real film noir detective, a proper Sam Spade, but is smart enough to know that that’s not how the world works, especially these days. Also, she tends to have trouble with ghosts. (At the time of her creation, I had no idea that “paranormal PI” was a full-on genre. The more you know.)
