My intention for today was actually to draw a geisha, as I was in a geisha kind of mood. But while looking for some more historical (rather than contemporary) reference, I came across this absolutely fascinating photo set on flickr, and my plans changed a little. All these photos of turn-of-the-century Japan, and the ones that really struck me were all the pictures of kids carrying babies. This photo was my primary reference, but I couldn’t help but be inspired by this girl’s beautiful smile.
